Cryptopia, New Zealand based crypto exchange, revealed the total estimation of stolen worth during the hack on its exchange last month.
The Cryptopia exchange hacked in Jan. And the exchange went maintenance mode. The firm is silent for many days; on Wednesday Company published a sequence of updates through Twitter. The exchange disclosed the total worth of loss by hacking, as follows:
“We are continuing to work on assessing the impact incurred as a result of the hack in January. Currently, we have calculated that worst case 9.4% of our total holding was stolen”
The exchange didn’t expose in the terms of physical currency.
Exchange is on Maintenance Mode
Cryptopia suffered security breach on Jan. 14 and after identifying the hack it went maintenance mode on Jan. 15. It updated to its users via Twitter. The investigation led by Government Agencies, NZ police, and High Tech Crimes Unit. So the exchange can’t provide any updates on that time. All trading suspended.
Cryptopia twitted on Jan. 27 that, all their systems are under control of investigation team so they can’t updates of hacking details.
Company Updates on Twitter
New Zealand government police told on February 7 that the investigation will complete Cryptopia’s cyber attack by the middle of the month. The exchange supported in a tweet on February. 14. The police have given access to their office though they are still continuing the investigation.
In Wednesday’s updates, the exchange informed that they are securing every wallet individually and it fully protect when resuming the trading.
New Zealand Police’s detective inspector Greg Murton told that the investigation is continuing well and moving forward also added:
The stolen crypto assets are continuously tracking by Police and the best skilled-persons worldwide. It is possible due to the nature of blockchain and cryptocurrency publicly available throughout the world.
Cryptopia also warned to their users that don’t deposit into old wallet addresses and they will update information via twitter.
